about me

Living at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex, the colours, lines, forms and patterns found in nature are the inspirations that drive my work.

“Nature is beautiful in that it appears to say more than it is… artworks become artworks in the production of that ‘more’.”      Theodore Adorno, Aesthetic Theory.

I paint in a  “folk art” style in a variety of mediums including paint, print and textiles. Several mediums and processes are often combined to build up many layers that create an image which is both intriguing and decorative.

“Man’s ideal of Nature is reproduced in Art”  Russell Cotes Gallery and Museum

I have a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art and an MA in Museum Studies. In addition to my work as a visual artist, I have worked as a freelance consultant in arts audience development and as a museum cataloguer and Oral Historian.  Currently I divide my time between creating in my studio and work with the National Trust and a specialist art museum.  I exhibit my work regularly and am always pleased to talk about commissioned work.
